Colder Than Times Older

Verse One of Four

It’s been too sombre to notice the cold.

An awareness suddenly I behold,

the cold that has not felt colder,

warmer in times older,

it just feels cold,

I already told ya!

Not freezing but cold,

we aren’t even very old,

unannounced time told,

of a friendship forever summer gold,

a message, a feeling,

something destiny is dealing.

Grief is numb, you don’t hear what you’re told!

Verse Two of Four

I’m told I was bold,

and now I am sold,

like this rhyme scheme,

these feelings is something that’s getting very old.

Where did it come from?

This feeling so sneaky!

I just realized how cold I’ve been,

this is freaky!

A feeling so numb,

I hope this is not weekly,

Flaming Raging Aries I don’t get cold so easily.

Verse Three of Four

Perspective is everything!

It’s why my rhymes colder than it’s ever been.

Got in the tub needed more than a scrub,

a warm feeling,

a hug,

a rug beneath my feet,

just the feeling of love. 

A familiar warmth I know we’ll meet again,

dance our feet again,

do the meet and great again,

of all the smiling places,

those really good faces,

a glow warm and welcoming,

depict my heart melting,

taking warmth in sheltering,

of fonder memories,

no more winters of freezing-cold degrees.

Verse Four of Four

I mark the day Friday 13th because I care,

the day I really hoped we’d be there.

Now that we found you,

in the sadness I no longer stare,

now to the warmth I gaze,

at the times that you were there.

Thanks for listening and letting me share.

Losing someone is something we should never have to bear.
